735 Posts | Taught a class of middle school kids about how to design games in Game Maker. One of my early questions was, "What was the first popular video game company?"
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that so few of them had heard of Atari. Just makes me sad I guess.  |

735 Posts | Strangely enough Namco seemed to be a popular answer. But I remember hearing Nintendo, Sega, Apple, Microsoft, and Pong. (Apparently the kid who answered Pong didn't understand the question.) |

54 Posts | All I can say is wow. Just, wow. There was a time when Atari was the most recognized name in the world right after Coca Cola. They were even more well known than McDonalds in some parts of the world. How soon history forgets. |
